LEGO 9443: Rattlecopter

Il set LEGO Ninjago 9443 Rattlecopter ripropone l'episodio dei Ninjago relativo alla fuga del figlio di Lord Garmadon, Lloyd con lo scettro Constrictai d'oro: durante la fuga Lloyd viene bloccato da Fang-Suei con l' elicottero a sonagli Rattlecopter e la banda di mini-serpenti; in soccorso di Lloyd  arriva Kai dotato del suo jet-pack.

Il Set 9443 viene venduto in una scatola di dimensioni medie ed e' composto da:

• Rattlecopter
• tre minifig: Kai, Lloyd Garmadon, Fang-Suei
• Uno scettro Costrictai
• 2 mini-serpenti bianchi

ed e' rivolto ad un pubblico di almeno otto anni, ma anche in questo caso credo che si possa tranquillamente dire che anche bambini con un anno in meno ed un po' di esperienza con i mattoncini della LEGO riescano ad assemblarlo e giocarci.

All'interno della scatola troviamo il libretto di istruzioni, e tre buste contenenti i brick.

Seguendo lo schema proposto da LEGO nel libretto delle istruzioni, si comincia partendo dalla busta dei brick n.1 assemblando le minifig di Lloyd Garmadon con lo scettro, Fang-Suei, e poi si passa alla realizzazione di Kay con il suo jet-pack. 

A questo punto comincia l'assemblaggio vero e proprio del Rattlecopter partendo dalla parte centrale che contiene i due vani laterali che ospitano/nascondono i mini serpenti, e si prosegue con la coda ed il meccanismo di snodo e rotazione dell'elica posteriore, per la cui realizzazione e' richiesta l'apertura della busta dei brick n.2. Da notare come anche in questo set, come ormai tradizione per i mezzi di movimentazione Ninjago, si fa largo uso di pezzi LEGO Tecnic per implementare soggetti dalle linee accattivanti e mai banali.

Si passa quindi a completare la parte centrale, andando a realizzare i due meccanismi per il lancio dei missili (due per parte) che vengono incernierati al corpo dell'elicottero e quindi posizionabili in diversi modi, ed i due motori a reazione laterali che fungono da base anche per l'ancoraggio delle cerniere delle ali laterali.

Resta ora da realizzare il cockpit e il meccanismo di rotazione dell'elica centrale che richiedono l'apertura della busta dei brick n.3. Si parte realizzando la base del cockpit che ospita il pilota ed il quadro strumenti che risulta oggettivamente un po' scarno, e si continua con quello che secondo me e' il passaggio piu' impegnativo del set, ovvero la realizzazione del muso di serpente dell'elicottero.

Da notare che l'anteriore viene realizzato a parte in quanto in seguito per mezzo di pin tecnic obblicui viene vincolato al corpo dell'elicottero conferendo allo stesso un frontale inclinato rispetto al corpo. 

Completata la parte anteriore si passa alla realizzazione del sistema di apertura della parte superiore del cockpit e del meccanismo di rotazione dell'elica centrale, entrambi realizzati senza particolari problemi e che completano l'assemblaggio del Rattlecopter.

Da notare al termine dell'assemblaggio della parte anteriore che la sistemazione della minifig Fang-Suei nel cockpit non e' agevole e che tende a interferire con il portello superiore impedendone la completa chiusura.

Al termine dell'assemblaggio ritengo utile segnalare:

PRO

• Linea molto aggressiva e bella.
• Largo impiego di pezzi LEGO speciali per la realizzazione delle linee esterne.
• Ali esterne connesse per mezzo di plate con cernire e quindi orientabili in molte direzioni.

CONTRO

• Cockpit nella parte dei comandi poco rifinito e difficile sistemazione per la minifig
• Assenza nella base dell'elicottero di un base a superficie liscia (sarebbero bastati anche dei plate rounded con superficie liscia)
• Assenza di un meccanismo di apertura centralizzata per ali e/o lame presente in altri set Ninjago

Conclusioni

Trovo il set 9443 con il suo aspetto di serpente molto bello ed interessante per le soluzioni adottate nella realizzazione la testa di serpente/cockpit con dei pezzi di derivazione LEGO Tecnic automobili e la per l'elica di coda. In questo caso c'e' una perfetta proporzione tra le dimensioni della minifig e l'elicottero, cosa che non sempre accade nei set NINJAGO.

Set LEGO Ninjago 9443 Rattlecopter refers to the episode of Ninjago: the escape of the son of Lord Garmadon, Lloyd with the Gold Scepter Constrictor, during the escape Lloyd is blocked by  Fang-Suei  with Rattlecopter and mini-snakes, to the rescue of Lloyd comes Kai with his jet pack .


Set 9443 is sold in a box of medium in size and consists of:

• Rattlecopter
• three minifigs: Kai, Lloyd Garmadon, Fang-Suei
• a Scepter Costrictor
• two white mini-snakes

It is a set oriented to an audience of at least eight years old, but in this case I think we can safely say that even children with a year younger and with a bit of experience in LEGO bricks could be able to assemble and play with it.


Inside the box we find the instruction booklet, and three envelopes that containing the brick.
Following the scheme proposed by LEGO in the instruction book, it begins starting from the first envelope of brick, assembling the minifig of Lloyd Garmadon with the Scepter, Fang-Suei , and then pass to the realization of  Kay with his jet-pack.


At this point begins the assembly of real Rattlecopter starting from the central body that contains in the two side, a compartments which house/hide the mini snakes, and continue with the tail and the mechanism of rotation of the propeller hub and rear; for the whole realization it is needed the opening of the second envelope of the brick. It should be noted that also in this set, as is now traditional for  Ninjago set, is widely used pieces of LEGO Tecnic to implement those captivating lines and never dull.
It then goes on to complete the central body, accomplishing the two mechanisms for the launch of the missiles (two per side) that are hinged to the body of the helicopter in a way that can be positioned in different ways, and the two lateral jet engines that act as basis also for the anchorage of the hinges of the green side wings.


It now remains to make the cockpit and the central mechanism of rotation for the airscrew requiring the opening of the third brick envelope.
You start making the base of the cockpit that houses the pilot and the instrument panel which is objectively a bit thin, and continue with what I think is the over challenging of the set: the realization  of the snake helicopter muzzle.
Note that the front of the helicopter is realized in a unique part as a result by means of inclined pins tecnic and is fastened to the body of the helicopter granting him a front inclined with respect to the body.

Completed the front part is passed to the realization of the opening system for the upper part of the cockpit and of the mechanism of rotation of the central propeller, both achieved without major problems and that these complete the assembly of the Rattlecopter .

It should be noted at the end of the assembly of the front part that the arrangement of the minifigs Fang-Suei in the cockpit is not so easy and it tends to interfere with the upper door preventing its complete closure.

After completing the assembly I find it useful to report:

PRO

• Line very aggressive and beautiful
• Wide use of LEGO special pieces

AGAINST

• Cockpit at the command just finished and difficult accommodation for the minifig
• Absence of a base in the base of the helicopter with a smooth surface (would be enough also rounded plate with smooth surface)
• The absence of an opening mechanism for centralized wings and/or blades present in other sets Ninjago

Conclusions

I find the set 9443 with its appearance of green-snake very beautiful, and with interesting solutions adopted in the implementation of the snake head/cockpit using pieces of Tecnic LEGO cars derivation. 

In this set, there is a perfect proportion between the size of the minifig and the helicopter, which is not always the case of Ninjago sets.
